Heard strange news story on radio about Hills. County school district chief Mary Ella saying she is running for open school dist. head in state of Nevada, even though Mary didn't submit application. I think it is a false flag, to get a raise, saying other districts are interested in her. Tooting her own horn. What school district would be interested in her, she doesn't have a Ph.D.
I wish somebody would hire her so that she would get out of town. I don't think they will, alas. The board is dumb enough to believe this. I have been trying to get the notes from her hiring. I read the applicant file. She was the least qualified. lee
Mr. Hernandez: I was delighted to read in La Gaceta that you will run against Candy Olson in District 2.
Ms. Olson has been on the board so long that she has moss growing on her board perch.
I would count it a tie between her and Jennifer Falliero for the worst board member.
I have a piece on her as well as April Griffin on my blog. April is no shining example of what a board member should be either.
Maybe it's the atmosphere of ROSSAC that makes them all go bad after three meetings in the board room. The thing is a mystery to this observer.
Go to leedrurydecesarescasting-roomcouch.blogspot.com to read my analysis of the three incumbents running now. I do not write hagiographies as you can see if your read my pieces on the incumbents.
I wish I could go to your kick-off, but I am going to a PBK dinner with a history lecture that I have a particular interest in.
I want to sound you on your platform emphasis sooner or later.Your name sounds familiar, but everybody in Tampa seems to be named Spoto or Fernandez. I would be interested in seeing a copy of your curriculum vitae. Please send me one if you have it.
You are sure to get an interview with a reporter from the Times and Tribune. If you will email me when, I will try to drive over from the beach where I now live after 20 years in Beach Park when our children were growing up.
My husband was mayor in our little beach town of Madeira Beach until he retired after a dozen years, being unable to stand the bickering any more. I am grateful that anyone will consent to run for public office so wretched is the job it seems to me.
But run people do. And for some malignant reason, those running for the school board are inevitably the jerks of the political pool and remain on the board until they fossilize into potted plants.
Dave Schmidt has left a new comment on your post "Putting the Screws to Free Speech":
Mrs. Decesare: Thank you for your kind words. Yes, April Griffin did indeed seek revenge for my blog and she indeed had me "thugged."
While you and I go about business differently in our blogs, we both have First Amendment rights which our politicians must accept. April did not and I paid a price.
But, this matter is still unresolved and Ms. Griffin must campaign for another term this spring and summer. She has five other candidates to face and I believe she can and will be defeated. Her vengeance against me is the tip of the iceberg.
Next week, I will file a Florida Ethics Commission complaint against her in another matter. Certainly, I will post that information on my blog at www.hillsboard.com.
Again, thank you for your interest and support.

Mr. Schmidt: Don't ever forget that this punishment you got is about free speech. The administration and board lay in wait to trap Steve Kemp with a bogus charge because he had a blog.
They can't stand anybody's telling the truth about how vile is their behavior in running the schools. They don't want to have the information get out unexpurgated by the Community Affairs office and are scared to death of blogs because bloggers may let the cat out of the bag. That's my goal:to let the cat out of the bag and let the public know that crooks are running the schools.
I hope you do file an ethics charge against April. She ran on a platform of cleaning up the schools and within weeks of her election she was one of the ROSSAC gang: she did a complete roll-over capitulation. She lacks courage and civic spirit. I pray one of her challengers beats her. I don't think anyone could be worse than April.
Don't forget my offer to leaflet. I have spent some of the best times of my life on the picket line.
Fight on, and let me know what I can do. I learned my tactics in the Women's Movement. We were up against a behemoth of prejudice and learned to use sharp elbows with the best of them.
Don't make the mistake of thinking the administration, April, and other board members will use ethical maneuvers. It's gutter from start to finish with them. lee

Subject: [Lee Drury De Cesare's Casting-Room Couch] New comment on What Would St. Paul Do?.
Elia's neighbor took pictures of the tin roof structure she built to show how she is doing construction without a permit. Elia thinks she is above the rules, so she wanted to do work on her house without filing any permits. When caught, she tried to imply that her neighbor is a stalker for taking pictures.
Elia's house is the ugliest house on the street and you would think with the money she makes she could fix it up better instead of just putting a tin roof on the back. This is someone who has absolutely no sense of style or taste. You can take the person out of the slums but not the slums out of the person.
That's what gaucherie and a sense of limitless entitlement will do to you: make you a perpetual boor.
I have had a response from the station chief of Tampa's Child Protection Services. I can't figure out any way to blow this up for blog presentation. Many of y'all are smarter than I about such maneuvers, so if you can make the image bigger, do so and send me a copy. Meanwhile, get out your magnifying glasses.
I write the following to the Station Chief of Department of Children and Families in response to his evasive letter to me:
Dear Mr. Nicholas B. Cox:
Your first paragraph makes it seem that I am hallucinating about the child abuse in the special-ed department of Hillsborough County schools with your use of "...child abuse that you believe..." Had you bestirred yourself. to investigate the charge instead of simmering over it in your office, you could have read the report that the schools has about the incident and asked some questions of the participants Kemp, Smiley, and Morris yourself. You could also have quizzed Ms. Elia about this child abuse going on under her nose.
If, as you say in paragraph 2, "The Department of Children and Families does not have authority over employees of the Hillsborough County Public Schools," one infers that if one of the schools' employees beats his or her child black and blue at home with a neighbor's reporting the abuse to the Department of Children and Families via hotline, letter, or email, or with an employee's abusing a special-ed child in the Hillsborough County Schools, you can't handle these situations because you lack the authority to do so.
I would like a copy as public information of the section of the Department of Children and Family's protocol manual for officers in the field such as yourself that confirms this astonishing claim.
I thank you for sending a copy of my correspondence to Ms. Elia. I had sent her one when I sent a copy of my complaint to the School Board. This suggestion seems illogical to me since Ms. Elia is in charge of the child-abuse conduct that unfolds in the Special-ed section of the schools that I cited. If she were going to correct the situation, she would have already done so during the several years of her incumbency. She obviously hasn't.

Hillsborough County School Board Engaged in Routine Meeting Skullduggery
Dear Ms. Obama:
I enclose an email that I sent to Mr. Mueller, FBI head. The corruption in Hillsborough County schools cries out for FBI investigation.
I ask that you ask Mr. Obama to request that Mr. Mueller carefully consider the request for an investigation that he will have received by now.
I was an early supporter of Mr. Obama. I believed he would be concerned about the louche leadership of the schools and would be sharp enough to know that the administration, not the press's robotically cited unions and teachers, contributes a significant part of the the problems of education.
Please review my letters to Mr. Mueller, make a judgment of my claims, and if, as I will hope, you see that I have a point that you will request your husband to ask Mr. Mueller to investigate the school system of Hillsborough County for administration and board corruption.
My husband was longest-serving mayor in our little beach town. As First Lady of our miniscule city,I asked my husband of 53 years to do such things while claiming I knew nothing of politics to irate callers for the may.
Wives should never underestimate their power in curtain lectures.
Respectfully,
Lee Drury De Cesare
